Happy Halloween 2009!

I love Halloween! I enjoy it almost as much as Christmas! I love the costumes, the decor and of course the CANDY! I handed out candy to over 70 kids this year! WOWIE!

This Halloween was much better than last year. I think it has to do with location, location, location. There are way more little goblins over here in our new more populated neighborhood!!

I dressed up this year as a wild witch with the coolest hat that had a veil attached. The veil had spiders on it so it was kind of creepy.
Here are a few pictures of our yard and of me in my makeup and hat.
Sorry about hamming it up for the camera but it was a fun look.

BOO!

EOTD The She Space Hope Quad 2 & Detrivore primer

Oh my... Heather from The She Space creates amazing neutrals (I usually do not like neutral eyeshadows). I was a bit worried that this would look boooooring but it was flattering and classy :D And much nicer in irl! I bet Robyn (Robyn's nest) would love these pigments. The lightest shade I used, the mirror loves me, is part of my blogs next giveaway too.

I also tried my new Detrivore primer. I bought a sample kit of 50 eyeshadows with primer (Lisa Kate, I'll be broke soon because of you ;). I haven't tried Detrivore pigments yet and I don't think I'll swatch all fifty. Please tell me if there are some colors you are interested in and I'll try do my best to swatch those :)

I wasn't sure if this primer works because it feels quite "oily"... And maybe it doesn't work on creasy lids but it was so_good on mine! Pigments looked almost like foiled, like LisaKate told. Looks great even after 10 hours! See Lisa Kate's review from here.

I couldn't find the primer from Detrivore's Etsy shop anymore but it's still here.

Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Yellow Oxide, Mica, Glycerine, Castor Seed Oil, Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol, Olive Fruit Oil, Beeswax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Gycine Soybean Lipids, Lauryl Saurate, Carnauba Wax, and Candillia Wax.

-Detrivore primer
-TSS The mirror loves me (hope quad 2), lid
-TSS Absolutely fabulous (hope quad 2), crease
-TSS Embrace this fabulous face (hope quad 2), to darken the crease & lower lashline
-TSS Kaleidoscopes Gold, browbone
-MAC Blitz & Glitz fluidline
-Lumene Excellenght mascara+ Shiseido mascara base

Vaalein sävy, The Mirror loves me, sisältyy myös blogini arvontapalkintoon.

BE Buxom Babes about town swatches and review

A few of my frieds are Bare Escentuals Buxom-addicts, so I just had to try these babes! Size is smaller than regular (2 ml) but I always like to have more than just one color :) Babes about town kit contains 4 lip sticks and 4 lip polishes.

First of all, the smell (caramel?) is divine! I even got compliments of my perfume and all I was wearing was these babes. LOL. But unfotunately my lips feel FREEZING (it's much more that "tingly sensation", really) when I apply this... Staying power is very good because I definitely do not want to touch my lips. Lip polishes are not sticky and I like that! Lip Stick are pencil like are quite dry. These are ok under Buxom lip polish though but I cound't use these without lipgloss.

I will definitely use these in special occasions but not daily, since my lips nearly hurt when I use Buxoms... And I wouldn't want to kiss my kids when I'm using these!

Have you tried Buxoms and what do you think? Maybe my skin is just too sensitive to use these?

I just noticed that it's much easier to swatch eyeshadown than lip glosses :D
From left: Milan (lip stick), Destiny (lip polish), Shanghai (lip stick), Dani (lip polish), Berlin (lip stick), Isabella (lip polish), Amsterdam (lip stick) & Zena (lip polish)

My lips with Buxom Berlin& Isabella:

My lips with Aromaleigh Wallflower:

Muutama ystäväni on Bare Escentuals Buxom-addikteja, joten pakkohan näitä oli testata! Mies toi tuliaisina Sephorasta Buxom Babes about Town-paketin (39 USD-> noin 26.50€).

Ensinnäkin tuoksu on jumalainen!

Rumour is that JEdward are singing We Will Rock You. I can't wait.

USA FTC Blogger Legislation from December 1st.

New blogger legislation from the Federation Trade Commission in America will come into effect from 1st of December. Stripped to it’s bare bones, it translates to a law of transparency on blogs, and the onus is heavily placed on bloggers to disclose ‘freebies’, otherwise known Stateside as ‘payola’. Bloggers have until now stayed free from such endorsement rules, leaving it to the conscience of the individual blogger to decide whether they declare a kick-back.

For many ‘hobby bloggers’, this sounds really scary, but in fact, I think it’s going to make for an easier blogging life should the same legislation come to the UK. Speaking specifically about beauty blogs, it offers us a protection against the rumour mill that is so quickly sparked among beauty bloggers – if we are all on an enforced level playing field freebie wise it will put a stop to any wondering or questioning. The US legislation is actually quite loose, with no specific rulings on how any declarations should be made. I suggest that starting a review with ‘I was sent this bottle of X to try’ should be enough, but in the case of any posts where the reviewer has accepted something other than just product (i.e. money), it needs to be clearly labelled as a ‘sponsored post’.

Remembering that beauty blogging is fast becoming a first stop for those looking for honest reviews about beauty products before making the step to purchase is paramount: flagging that your review is sponsored gives clarity to potential consumers. If your reputation is to be honest and clear in your reviews, then a sponsored review should be viewed as nothing more than advert; it’s then up to readers to decide whether or not they want to read it or engage with it.

It’s up to each individual beauty blog whether they want to make their time consuming hobby pay back: beauty brands are sitting up and taking notice of us: we – and our readers – are offering the purest and most valuable consumer feedback they’ll ever get, and we are beginning to have a powerful voice. If reader comments and blogger reviews are negative, it is really then up to the brand to say, ‘well, maybe our product isn’t good enough,’ so we shouldn’t be shy of posting less than glowing reviews if it is our real opinion. That’s where honesty pays and bloggers start to make a real difference. In my view, commercialising blogs will become the norm, and this is when a clear cut policy and un-woolly legislation will be our friend. Just keep your voice clear and your ethics unwavering and remember that cream rises. It is only a matter of time before we have the same legislations in the UK, so let’s be ready in advance of the fact.

UPDATE: A couple of comments left are very pertinent - GreatSheElephant advises that unless you know your webhost is in UK, it's possible we fall under this legislation anyway, and Grooming Guru asks why magazines and newspapers don't have to comply as well. Good point, God of Grooming.

The code is GLAMBFFS, and it's good until 12 November. If I was buying, I'd get Skinny Jeans and Stiletto cream eyeshadows.  Good to Go lipstick is also pretty (it was the lipstick used on Kirsten Stewart in Twilight) but it does need to be reapplied constantly.

Make Up Store COVER ALL MIX

Cover all mix (swatches below)

I finally found my HG product to cover my dark under eyes! I got idea from lovely Sagu (Happy Contours) and absolutely LOVE this product :D Cover all Blue is quite dark and orange-y but it works, really! I've never used this dark product under eyes before. Cover all mix has also two other colors: Cover all red (yellow) and light beige to lighten up the other shades.

It's also possible to buy the colors separately but I wanted to have this one :) MUS has also Cover all mix-Dark for darker skintones.

"Cover All Mix is a high pigmented concealer that neutralizes and covers. The yellow concealer covers red areas such as spots and blood vessels. The orange-red concealer covers blue areas like dark rings under the eyes. The beige concealer lightens up skin tones and the other to concealers. It is also perfect as a primer for your eyeshadows. Apply with a synthetic brush for at thin result. You can also mix the concealer with Blend & Fix for a creamier product."

Make Up Store is Swedish company and it was founded by man named Mika Liias (his parents are in fact originally from Finland). This company has also a GREAT selection of lip liners (over 40?) and I LOVE color called Nude Beauty! More about that later.

Have you tried MUS products? Which are your favorites?

Cover all mixissä on tämän lisäksi kaksi muutakin sävyä: Cover all red (keltainen) sekä vaalea, jolla muita säyjä voi vaalentaa.

Onko muita Cover all-tuotteisiin ihastuneita? Mitä muita suosikkituotteita olette Make Up Storelta löytäneet?

Mum Mum's greens & Kinky in Helsinki

I practically NEVER use pinks on my nails but now I wanted to try Opi Kinky in Helsinki. And I have to say that I really do not like this :D But maybe this still is a must have for all Finnish nail polish addicts. LOL

And here is the EOTD using Mum Mum's greens:

First Look: Clinique Spring 2010

New collections are previewing thick and fast at the moment: just got the news on the very pretty Clinique collection for Spring 2010, called Juiced Up Colour. I really like the look of this collection; it's got a level of detail that makes it interesting, and the colours are gorgeously feminine. Spot the new mascara, High Lengths with a willow shaped brush.

Alima Pure in Europe

I just heard that there will be a new distributor of Alima products in Europe. Unfortunately that usually means higher prices. The prices were not up yet though... Let's hope the prices remain reasonable! Read more here.

I made an order right away, because I had to order soon anyway. I LOVE Alima's brushes!

picture: www.alimapure.com

Caudalie Premier Cru La Creme: Reader Review

This is the cream that I'm hearing the most about at the moment, and it's getting rave reviews everywhere. At £89, its not cheap, but with a formula based on grape polyphenols, it seems to be giving phenomenal results. Reader Lynne has tested this for three weeks.

"I am a great fan of grapes preferably served chilled at the end of the day, but I was a bit sceptical about this little fruits anti ageing benefits when I was given Caudalie Premier Cru to try because for the past 10 years I’ve treated my skin with the finest cosmeceutical ingredients that you need a degree in bio chemistry to understand! Apparently Premier Cru contains an exclusive combination of the rarest most precious and most effective natural ingredients for global anti ageing action. To be honest I don’t really care what it contains because after a week of using this day and night I had so many compliments about how great my skin looked (“movie star” skin was one description) that I went out and bought the Radiance Serum Complexion Correcting to compliment my new found skin miracle! Go grapes!! "

Am rather wishing I'd kept it to test myself!

Julie Hewett Hue Colours

I think the last time I placed a Julie Hewett order was when Scarlett Icon lipstick was launched. Julie has reformulated her stuff to be paraben free and her Hue Colours are now paraben free, so I figured it was time to put in an order. I have all the other colors in the pot except Mystère which isn't really new; it was included in the Ombre palette. Malachite wasn't in stock but will probably

Vapour Organic Beauty Aura blush and Mesmerize eye color

Vapour Organic Beauty is a US line fronted by Eric Sakas, Kevyn Aucoin's former business partner.  You're not getting beautiful packaging, but on the bright side, you're *not* paying for beautiful packaging. This line is all about the product. The Aura blush is $28, and it's huge. The Mesmerize eye color is $16, and for an organic product that's very reasonable.

Mum Mum's milk chocolate & about purely cosmetics

Once again I decided not order anything but then a lovely reader of this blog contacted and send me this link. It's a video review made by Enkore, telling about Purely cosmetics. Well, just look the video! Especially if you have acne scars or super-oily skin. I don't have those problems but I still found many interesting products from Purely Cosmetics :) I wanted to test the foundation, primer for normal/dry skin & DIAMOND powder. I really like the ingredients this company uses!

I also contacted the owner, Robyn, before I ordered and she answered me right away. I'll tell more when the products arrive. I'll post some eyeshadow swatches too, since I "accidentally" ordered the sample pack of 22 colors... Oops. I hope I get the color called Purple Koala ;D I also added Robyn's blog to my blog list because I found her blog very informative, and funny too!

But I can't post any Purely pics yet but here is my second FOTD with Mum Mum's. This is my second day using these and I'm in love :D I found these colors lovely and quality excellent. I highly recommenend this company! Lucy is also so sweet. *heart* I used Softly on lids and Swiss Chocolate in crease, I usually do NOT like colors like these but this was so nice! It reminded of milk chocolate :D

-Meow Equilibrium primer
-Sassy foundation cool light
-MUS cover all mix under eyes
-Mum Mum's blush Azalea
-Beautifu Girl minerals lippie "Tainted"

-GOSH primer
-Mum mum's Softly (lid)
-Mum Mum's Swiss chocolate (crease, lower lid)
-Mum Mum's Beautiful 3 in 1 color (browbone)
-MAC fluidline Dipdown
-Lumene Excellenght (brown)+ Shiseido mascara base

Hope you like it :)

HUPS! No helpotanpa sitten teidän valintaanne, eikös.

Nimesin meikin maitosuklaaksi :D

Pretty from Puresha

Shea Butter Chunky Soap Bar in Fig

Gardenia Soy Candle

Green Tea Fizzing Bath Powder

I like organic skincare in theory well enough, but very few ranges cut the mustard when it comes to performance. I'm happier sticking to bath and body products because all they have to do is smell nice and not dry out my skin. So many organic brands end up in the 'worthy-looking' category but I am noticing more and more ranges heading our way that actually look fabulous too. I've just spotted these gorgeous Soap & Paper Factory items at Puresha.com all the way from NYC. The presentation is fabulous, they're all eco-friendly and full of natural ingredients. Nice one.

Guerlain Spring 2010

Easily the most impressive Spring 2010 collection to come to light yet, Guerlain's Cherry Blossom range is an absolute stunner. See more of the collection at www.makeup4all.com and www.lushiousbeauty.nl.
Shown here are Cherry Blossom Blush, Eyeshadow Quad Ombrelles and Insolence fragrance. I cannot wait to get my hands on this!

Lubatti Grapefruit and Bergamot bath oil

Mr London gifted me the Lubatti Grapefruit and Bergamot bath oil recently (he'd done something boorish in IKEA, if I remember correctly.)

The Lubatti range is the brain-child of Tracey Malone, sister of Jo. The formulations are based on the recipes handed down by Madame Lubatti, a skincare expert who trained Eileen Malone, mother of Tracey (and Jo.)

The bath oil is quite similar in formulation

Armani say...not that much!

I made it to the Armani counter today to enquire about the price of the new Rouge D'Armani lipsticks. They are £22, not the £30 that was quoted in The Stylist. Not exactly a bargain, but not quite as jaw-dropping as advertised.

The flame/orange red 401 that I would have bought was out of stock, so I was saved from myself. I shall be adding it to my christmas list.

Jean Paul Gaultier: Classics Revitalized

I've mentioned before that French fragrance press releases are beyond comprehension, even when they've been translated into English. I had another example today, describing the new Jean Paul Gaultier ad campaign starting in November that was so baffling I had to throw my hands up in defeat! Between us, the PR and I decided that I wasn't feeling the 'Gaultierness' of it. But, what I can tell you is that the new ad (some stills shots above) is going to be a visual stunner. There is also a new collectable bottle of Classique that has just hit the shelves now - same bottle; new corset - this time in copper metal, £60. Do check out the boy part of the male/femail campaign in a very funny review by the talented www.groomingguru.com. Interestingly, and one of the few bits I could follow word for word is that one bottle of Classique is sold in the world every 4 minutes.

Mum Mum's mini-review, swatches & FOTD

I was quite sure I won't look for new minerals companies from Etsy (I just have too much stuff already :D) but then I went to Mum Mum's site... Well, I just found their site so lovely and Lucy was so nice too :D I ordered some samples and full size of LE color "spring dew" and Orange Sherbet lipbalm. I found the colors beautiful and unique, this company does NOT sell repacked stuff! "With more research and loads of experiments, I developed my own mineral makeup line." Next time I'll try also the hand made soaps.

I didn't take the foundation since it contain silica (I can't use it in foundation) but I found the other products very nice! For example Peach 3 in 1 colors is just divine. I've tried only a few eyeshadows yet but so far I really like these!

Samples are in baggies (5 samples/ 5 USD) and LE full sizes in 5g sifter jars (5 USD). Eyeshadows/3 in 1 colors/blushes are in 10g jars and the price is 7 USD. There is also Limited edition mini size: 5g jar/ 3.5USD. I hope mini sizes will become permanent! Please please please, Lucy :D

If you are international, just send Lucy a message telling what you are ordering and she makes a custom listing for you. Shipping was very reasonble!

Seuraavaksi testaan firman saippuat.

Pohjaa en ottanut testiin, koska sisältää silicaa (en voisi kuitenkaan käyttää) mutta muut tuotteet vaikuttavat ihanilta! Erityiseti pidin Peach 3 in 1 colorista, jumalainen.

Here are the swatches:

That Old Chestnut: Lipstick That Makes Your Teeth Whiter

Poppy King's recent release of Butterfly Ball Lipsticks is catching everyone's attention - her lipsticks are always lush and lovely. This time around, I'm disappointed - it's such an old, old trick to add hints of blue to the formula that give teeth the illusion of looking whiter..Benefit did it way back, so did Sally Hansen, and I think even Avon has done it. In any case, the effects are so marginal as to be, well, not noticable to the naked eye at all really. I haven't tried Butterfly Ball, but unless they've got something ultra-ultra new, I've got to feel somewhat sceptical that whiter looking teeth are anywhere near a reality.

Chanel Gift Set

Just spotted this cute little gift set on the Bergdorf Goodman website..and it's only $50...this one's a gift that looks way more pricy than it actually is. I'm hoping we'll get something similar in the UK (I will check) but more thinking maybe its time to visit New York.

The She Space Libra & Hope Quad 2 swatches

I just noticed that The She Space Scorpio Astrology collection is up! Yippee :D

"Scorpio joins the party! And might I just add that these colors are actually darker than they appear in the photos...so please keep that in mind!" says Heather.

One of my favorites is this one:

TERROR IN THE STREETS: Deep plum burgandy shimmer with gold, pink and copper twinkle

The She Spacen Skorpiooni-horoskooppikokoelma on nyt ostettavissa ja aika ihanilta näyttävätkin :) Heather tosiaan mainitsi, että sävyt ovat oikeasti tummemmat kuin kuvissa eli se kannattaa pitää mielessä. Silmääni iski heti tuo kuvassa oleva Terror in the streets.

Oops.. I've been bad ;) I received The She Space, Detrivore and Aromaleigh orders today! Here are the swatches of TSS pigments first, if this helps you to choose what to order from the sale I mentioned a few posts ago.

Hupsan... On tullut vähän shoppailtua ;) Sain tänään The She Space, Detrivore ja Aromaleigh tilaukseni.

ACTIVE ENTHUSIAST: Dirty navy sparkle with layers of pink and copper plus a crystal twinkle
TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL: Silver pewter shimmer with a hint of cotton blue

Suosikkini Libra-kokoelmasta ovat Active Enthusiast ja Too cool for school.

1st row: freebie lippies (not available purchase, at least no yet) Fabulous me! and The prettiest SHE!
2nd row: The Mirror loves me, Absolutely fabulous, Born beautiful, Embrace the fabulous face & Crazy for Crabs.

Crazy for crabs is from Cancer Astrology collection. I bought this because of it's name because my lovely daughter is Cancer and I crazy for her. LOL

The other pigments are from Hope Quad 2. These are prettier than I thought, very nice! The colors are neutral but not at all boring. Lightes shade, Mirror loves me, is also the pigment in my blog giveaway.

THE MIRROR LOVES ME: soft creamy pearl taupe with a hint of crystal sparkle ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: Sheer rose taupe pearl
BORN BEAUTIFUL: Wine-raisin pearl
EMBRACE THIS FABULOUS FACE: Deep dark cocoa with hint of plum and traces of twinkle.
These colors were intentionally designed to be suitable for all skin tones!

Vaalein sävy, Mirror loves me, on osana blogini seuraavaa arvonta.
